My name is Peter, and I have been skateboarding since that long hot UK summer of 1976. What you find here is a site dedicated to skateboarding in the 1970's and early 80's, the period I was skating as a child. I have a large collection of skateboard gear and information from that period. I wanted to share that collection, and help bring back the fond memories we all have of that time. The age of innocence, when skateboarding was new, we were young, the world was uncomplicated and we skated dusk till dawn, not because it was cool, but simply because we loved it.
Skateboarding get's into your soul, it never leaves you.

Why the name Skateboardzoo ?
Just like a real Zoo, the idea of preserving something and putting it on display for others to enjoy over time is the rational behind this site. I have tried to take the best possible pictures and to include technical data for the equipment on display.

Mad Rat
I have been using the pseudonym of Mad Rat for years now, I can be found on web communities such as the Northern California Downhill Skateboard Association NCDSA under that name.
